I...I think Dooce is an extremely talented writer. I don't mind the ads, really, not one bit.

But something..and I can't really put my finger on it...but if you read her old content, it's absolutely riveting, pure raw honesty. And her new content...just isn't.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22561816.post-1156769472449268582006-08-28T08:51:00.000-04:002006-08-28T08:51:00.000-04:00Well put Dani. I don't have anything against Dooc...Well put Dani. I don't have anything against Dooce. She's just not my cup of tea.

The BlogHer ad network could be a big opportunity for you. It sounds like you're at a bit of a crossroads.

Maybe spending a week immersing yourself at sites with copious ads (like ClubMom perhaps) and then a week at sites without ads would help in your decision making. *shrug* Just a thought.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22561816.post-1156719061498679592006-08-27T18:51:00.000-04:002006-08-27T18:51:00.000-04:00(whispers) I don't really like Dooce all that muc...(whispers) I don't really like Dooce all that much either. I mean, she's an amazing writer, and kudos for what she's been through and what she's created for herself, but I've never been a huge fan.

I'm still on the fence about the ad thing. I've done my share of product endorsements, and I don't mind shilling a bit of space for that - I mean, I love free stuff, and I've got to come up with *something* to write about every day! I've been asked to join the BlogHer ad network, and I'm still chewing that one over.

Thanks for another interesting post - you always get me thinking!DaniGirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04419923174468788289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22561816.post-1156718572887184482006-08-27T18:42:00.000-04:002006-08-27T18:42:00.000-04:00Yeah. I thought about the whole "ad revenue will ...Yeah. I thought about the whole "ad revenue will pay for your webhosting" argument and decided I'd pick free-hosting... no ads required!

I'm sure it's not very cool for me to admit it, but I don't really enjoy Dooce all that much. Perhaps I started reading her too late in the game. *shrug*Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22561816.post-1156692059077232932006-08-27T11:20:00.000-04:002006-08-27T11:20:00.000-04:00I really don't want to have ads on my blog--and I ...I really don't want to have ads on my blog--and I turn down all of hte paid endorsement dealies except book reviews, but that's because I love books and I already read so many of them, and I try to identify which books I've paid for vs. which I haven't.

But that's my bias--I hate advertising and I so badly want to have one or two places where I don't have to see any. So where I can, I do. LIke you say, I don't mind seeing ads on other people's blogs, as long as it doesn't take over the page. I have to admit I find it very hard to read Dooce nowadays.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
