Could I have been a contender?

I have always had the acting bus as well. I started in middle school, doing school productions, and then branched out into the local children's theater. I didn't do much more acting until college, when I did 45 plays in about 5 to 5 and a half years. I stopped, pretty much, when I got pregnant with Offspring. I did my last two shows when I was 5 months pregnant with her, and then when she was 9 months old. I don't know if you've been keeping up with my audition saga over at my place, but I have another teacher that I work with who has done quite a few shows at the newest theater company here, and he told me of the latest offering. I auditioned on Feb 9th, and was supposed to be notified by the 16th. Then I got an email from him on the 17th, saying he was still trying to audition some people, and that he'd let us know by midnight on the 21st. I'm still waiting. I just checked the website to see if any new info has been posted, and the schedule says that final auditions will be held on the 25th, so I don't expect to hear until after that. Frustrating.

Uh....acting BUG. Not bus. And, for the record, I think you'd be GREAT at whatever you set your mind to.

Tedde Moore is only one person, dear; don't put *too* much stock in her opinion.

Nevertheless--if you're happy, that's what counts; and I have no doubt that when you put your mind to it, when the opportunity comes, you will be more than equal to it. :)

KLee: It certainly sounds like you've paid your dues! I've been checking your blog to see about those audition results. You know I'm rooting for you! Honestly, I think it'd be easier if there was an acting bus. Then, when you wanted you could just get off, instead of being infected for life! Thanks for your supportive comments!

Andrea: I hear you loud and clear! (And thanks for the reminder.) I take Ms. Moore's comments with a grain of salt, but I do acknowledge that there's some wisdom in her feedback too me. As I understand it, success is 10% being in the right place at the right time and 90% being able to handle the situations presented to you. There are a lot of talentless actors out there making big bucks! (And in a perverse way, I find that comforting.) And thanks also for your vote of support.

I think belief in oneself is something that separates those who make it from those that don't.
