I'm not sure there is any good way to solve the problem of drunken sailors. So minimizing your contact with them sounds like the most rational approach. At least until they get hit by the lightning bolts they so richly deserve.
PS: I hear you! I wonder if anyone is working on a lightning bolt guidance system...
