One Tough Challenge

Well, no, 'cause I live in suburbia and I'm pretty much stuck buying gasoline and car insurance.

Also, books do count as "medication", right? I know they induce a euphoric lift, they're addictive, and they have some painkilling properties.

I once tried to go just one calendar month without buying any books. I broke down after just a week or two. A friend of mine owed me a book in exchange for one of mine he'd lost, and he bought me something I'd been jonesing for at World's Biggest. ("I used to be a regular guy, until a friend of mine took me to a bookstore one day...")

Of course, if it's just new books I'd have to go without, I could still haunt the used bookshops, couldn't I?

I think there's an exception clause somewhere stating that books are medication. In any case, libraries and previously enjoyed books are definitely in! It's just the Brand New stuff they're ditching.

Wow, six months. I could not go six months without buying books or magazines. I don't think. I'm scared to think about it. Plus, yeah, like tuxedo said--I need gasoline to get to work.

I think I could go six months without clothes etc., though. Hmm. That's an interesting idea. Maybe I'll give it a shot....
