Back when Benjamin just started walking we were out on a playground. While he was climbing the steps to go down the slide, he would sign the word "more" everytime he got down to the bottom.

Another lady there saw that and asked me if I was signing with him. I said, yes. She told me that her 4-year old still signs for "more" at the dinner table when her mouth is full and it's rude to speak at the same time.

Ben is 23 months and for the most part has stopped signing now. But the "thank you" sign remains one he just won't give up yet!

Thought I'd share that with you.

Very interesting CL! I wonder why they let go of "thank you" last.

My daughter still uses her sign intermittently. Especially if she thinks we're not understanding her words. Most frequently, she'll emphasize please with the appropriate sign!

I wished I had known more sign language when Offspring was small. (And even now.) I think I would have been amazed at her communication level before she was even verbal. I say I'd use it on my next child, but I think we're done with the making of babies. I think 12 years between kids is too large a gap....:)

(PS -- LOVE! that wM is wanting to see "tomping wobots!" Too cute! :)

I have a continuation of my annoyed post...if you're interested.

I felt like ranting. Ever feel like ranting? Isn't that what blogs were invented for?

Thank you for your comment.

KLee, if you're interested in sign language, check out the American Sign Language Browser, pick a word a time and off you go!

As for a baby with a 12 year old... think about all the help you'd get! *duck*

CL, I hope your life feels less annoying really soon!
