Party etiquette

I too am astonished at this. My just two-year-old has had more party invitations than I have. And not just cake and play at someone's house, oh no, but organized events at facilities...I've been shy to go for several reasons, but the main one was the sense of obligation as well. I worry that if I go to one kid's party, and not to another, will the child/parent feel left out? It seems so complicated...when I was a kid, this stuff happened in the later part of gradeschool, not during toddler time. Hm. Interesting post.

I reflect on this, and similar topics, here:

CL, thanks for letting me know I'm not alone!

I've decided to take the following approach:
We go to the ones we can fit in. If we burn bridges by not reciprocating in the same fashion, so be it.

I don't have enough energy to worry about everyone else all the time!

As I a parent who has thrown one of these parties, I can assure you that I have no idea who came and who had similar style parties. I was so focused on making sure that no-one was maimed that it was all sort of a blur. Worry not!
