I would like to say that I would not deposit the second check, but if I were really hurting for money, I just might.

The problem with large companies is, precisely like you said, if you DO try to rectify the situation, it would require a large investment of time on your part AND would most likely get garbled in translation.

Good for you for not taking the second check. Do you think maybe returning the second check with a note saying that you got two, duplicate checks would work? Or would that be yet another exercise in futility?

Hrm. I hadn't considered sending the second cheque in with a note. My knee-jerk reaction is fear that they'd mess things up and somehow cause grief!
